Welcome To the Game!
We're so glad you've decided to join us. This page will help you getting started on our website and with the game but, if you ever have any questions at all, feel free to contact our Game Organizer DeAnna or Head Storyteller James.
- Sign Up - You'll fill out a sign up sheet for our website.
LARPer, Online Subscriber, or Both? - THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. You'll need to know what kind of game play you're looking for when you register for our site. LARP is short for "Live Action Role Playing" and this is done at our Lamar, Missouri USA location once a month on second Saturdays. If you're only going to be attending LARPs and have no intention of playing on our forums or in chatroom games, you're what we call a LARPer.
If you're someone who can't drive (or fly) all the way to Lamar, Missouri USA for our LARP games but you want to roleplay in our text-based forums and chatroom games - you're an Online Subscriber. While Basic Members (what you're called once you register with our site) can roleplay in our forums, you are greatly limited on what you have access to. If you are someone who wants to and can do both... then you're BOTH. LARP Games cost $5 per person for a six hour game session. Online Subscriptions (for those of you wanting to be more than a basic member) are $3-$5 a month but they give you unlimited gaming and access to our online storyarcs as well as access to various online tools and perks (read all about it on THIS PAGE)!
Regardless of how you participate you must be 16 years of age or older to take part and those under 18 must give a physical permission slip or fax a permission slip to Madhatterr Games (417-681-0433) in order to be okay'd to play. For more information on our fees and what you get for them please check out the PAYMENTS PAGE.
- Spiffy Up Your Profile - Once you're registered and been accepted to the site, you'll want to settle in! Your profile is where you can tell the group a little about yourself, the real you and your life as well as your character. Share things about your past gaming experience, how you found us, about your family, hobbies, whatever! Don't forget you can edit your avatar or your signature too!
- Mark Your Calendar - Check our our Events page so you can be aware of when our next gaming events are occurring and RSVP so everyone knows if you will be there or not!
- Upload Photos - Every player is welcome to upload a personal real life photo (beyond their avatar) on their profile page but... if you're on Online Subscriber PLUS member, you can upload up to ten photos of yourself, your character or whatever. Just visit our photo page.
- Listen to the Game Soundtrack & Watch Videos - Players can listen to music we've put together for the game & watch videos by going to the Extra button on the menu bar. More will be added as time goes on so check back often.
- Meet Other Members - Our members page shows the username and profile picture of the other members/players, if you click on any of them you can go to their profile pages and can read a bit about them & their characters as well as leave messages for them or add them to your own profile's friend listing so you can chat with them in our ooc chatroom/Instant Messenger!
- Learn About Vampire the Masquerade - Like Vampires, but never played Vampire the Masquerade before? Well, than there are several posts worth of basic information about the game world of Vampire the Masquerade that you'll want to read. The FAQ section called "MGP: Vampire FAQ" talks about the game's setting as well as general information about Vampire the Masquerade.
- Learn About Werewolf the Apocalypse - Like Werewolves, but never played Werewolf the Apocalypse before? Well, then there are several posts worth of basic information the game world of Werewolf the Apocalypse that you'll want to read. The FAQ section called "MGP: Werewolf FAQ" talks about the game's setting as well as general information about Werewolf the Apocalypse.
- Code of Conduct: LARP and Online - These posts talk about what we expect from players both at live action events and on our website. Please read through them carefully as ignoring these rules can result in warnings and eventual removal from the site.
- Player Points - Is a system of rewards for players who help contribute to making our LARP and Online Game better, whether through improving your character, recruiting, or offering help to the staff. In this post you can learn more about how to earn player points and what you can buy with them.
- Vampire the Masquerade: House Rules - This post tells what rule books we use in our VtM game as well as any special rules we've come up with that aren't from any particular books.
- Vampire the Masquerade: Rule Changes - If you're familiar with the Laws of the Night (revised) rules book, these are the rules we've changed from the core system as well as details on what information from the canonical books we're using. We put these here for those of you who are very familiar with the books and want to know what exceptions to the rules we've made.
- Vampire the Masquerade: Experience Points - This is how we symbolize your Vampire character's growth and development of knowledge and skills. Experience points help lowly nobody characters become bigger, cooler vamps. Read all about our experience point system.
- Play the Game - Once you have an approved character you can join the fun in our RP Chatroom, IC Vampire Forums, IC Werewolf Forums, & by writing your own character blog. Don't forget to join the social group for your character's clan - it's the location where your character and others in his/her clan can hang out and talk about your future plans. And if you're an Online Subscriber PLUS member... start your own in character social group for your friends & build a self-sufficient business/haven/etc by contacting the Game Organizer.
